Christian Wagener

Managing Director and Partner

Since 2024, Christian has led BCG's Cologne office with real heart – his chosen home on the Rhine.

Christian joined BCG's Cologne office in 2006, spent several equally formative years in Stockholm between 2017 and 2021 – leading more than 60 projects along the way – and returned in 2022 to where his heart truly beats: Cologne. He is a core member of BCG's Industrial Goods practice (automotive, sustainable mobility), Energy practice (power generation, utilities), and the Marketing, Sales & Pricing practice.

As one of BCG's experts on sustainable mobility, Christian has a real passion for electrification and e-mobility in passenger cars and commercial vehicles. He has led strategy projects for European energy utilities across the full value chain – from B2C retail to district heating, wind, hydro, and nuclear power – and driven numerous efficiency transformations and go-to-market projects. Outside of work, he is a devoted family man who loves sailing and hitting the slopes in the mountains – never quite losing his easygoing Cologne charm.

He can't wait to welcome you to the city he proudly calls home – ideally over a cold Kölsch!
