Heike Dorninger

Managing Director and Partner

At the beginning of 2024, Heike took over as Office Leader in Vienna.

Born and raised in Linz, Upper Austria, as the daughter of two teachers, Heike went to a classical humanistic gymnasium, Latin and Ancient Greek included, which she admits she simply found "kind of cool." She then moved to Berlin to study biochemistry and biotechnology, with further studies taking her to San Diego and New York, before returning to Vienna for a PhD in molecular biology and immunology at the Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP). Time in the lab convinced her that research alone wasn't the right fit, so, alongside a part-time MBA, she found her way to consulting and joined BCG in 2010.

As a core member of BCG's Health Care practice, Heike focuses on health insurance and health systems, advising clients on everything from digital health to reorganization, AI, cost efficiency, and quality measurement. She is also the study author behind the BCG Gender Diversity Index Austria and serves as a judge for business@school, supporting the next generation of talent.

Alongside her predecessor Lukas Haider, Heike also helped shape the Vienna office's distinctive, playful décor - unmistakably Viennese in character. Her own office reflects that spirit: a leopard-print wallpaper, gifted by the office development team as a nod to her unique style, sits alongside quirkier touches like a disco ball and an antique posthorn (a small tribute to the office's home in the former Imperial K.u.K. post building).
